Mom calls in bomb threat after son refused more food at Florida high school

COCOA, FL - A Florida woman has been arrested months after she threatened to blow up her son's high school unless cafeteria workers gave him more food.

According to police, the February 3rd bomb threat was left on a voicemail at Cocoa High School by 41-year-old Anaya Smith, who was arrested on Wednesday and charged with making a false bomb threat and disruption of a school.

An arrest report states Smith did not leave her name on the voicemail, but the school's caller ID recorded her number.

After listening to the voicemail, staff members at the school contacted Cocoa Police.

The school was evacuated, but no weapons or explosive devices were found.

Investigators say a school resource officer confirmed that Smith’s child had gotten into an argument with a cafeteria worker because he wanted more food on the same day the threat was called in.

The state attorney's office filed paperwork ordering Smith’s arrest on April 7th after confirming the number that called in the threat matched a phone number listed on Smith’s son’s student records.

Police arrested Smith on Wednesday, April 20th.
