Florida AG warns of counterfeit pills laced with deadly fentanyl

Due to the recent explosion in deadly counterfeit pills confiscated nationwide, Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody is warning that if you take a pill from anyone other than your doctor, you may be risking your life.

"The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration recently seized more than 1.8 million of these pills that contained fentanyl," Moody says. "Fentanyl is a deadly synthetic opiod 50 times more potent than heroin."

Just 2 milligrams of fentanyl is enough to kill a full grown adult. Lethal counterfeit pills laced with deadly fentanyl are flooding the Black Market and Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody says we've seen a corresponding dramatic spike in overdose deaths. 21 people die every day in Florida from opiod-related overdoses.

The DEA says 4 out of 10 fake pills being manufactured to look identifical to other prescription opiod medications contain fentanyl. Moody says for tips to fight opiod abuse, visit the web site DoseOfRealityFL.com
