Essential Workers Present Awards At The 2020 Emmy Awards

On Sunday (September 20), the Emmy Awards aired with an all-virtual ceremony. Not only did the Emmys honor TV's biggest stars this year, ABC also invited essential pandemic workers to present some of the biggest awards of the night.

"We're not just celebrating ourselves tonight, we are also shining a light on doctors, nurses, teaches, farmers, truckers," host Jimmy Kimmel explained during the broadcast. "We invited some of our essential workers here tonight to hand out awards to people who are much less essential than they are.'"

Before presenting their award, each essential worker was able to introduce themselves and share a little bit about their experience during the COVID-19 pandemic. From teachers eager to get back to their students after months of school shutdowns to frontline hospital workers and so much more, ABC's Twitter account said it best: "hank you to all of the essential workers out there who do so much to keep this country going."
